Changes in the factors associated with admission to the National University of the Peruvian Amazon in the context of the post-pandemic of COVID-19

The main objective of this article is to identify changes in the factors associated with access to higher education in a region considerably affected by inequalities and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic such as the rainforest. In order to do this, we analyzed a sample of 20 097 applicants to the University of the Peruvian Amazon (UNAP), depending on whether or not they experienced the pandemic during their admission process, between 2019 and 2022. A non-experimental cross-sectional design and quantitative methods were used for the processing and analysis of information. We found that the sex of the applicants, the type of school they come from, being a member of indigenous communities and the method of admission are the variables with the strongest effects. Additionally, we discuss the relevance of the findings to the gender gaps faced by indigenous youth.Downloads
