This essay aims to approach the understanding of the meanings of the term ayahuasca, as part of the phytonyms of the Amazonian peoples. However, given the sociocultural attributes, this term encompasses various specializations at the lexical level, also considering the worldview of the native peoples in which it is inscribed on this floor. The methodology used was qualitative, descriptive and cross-sectional. Different disciplinary fields were addressed in reflection on the scope of its use and cultural significance. The sections are related to historical, ritual, medicinal and linguistic aspects. All this leads to an interdisciplinary perspective, which allows us to observe the multiple dimensions of the term, its attributes in the community and the transformations of its meaning in different geographical spaces.Downloads
